We made it!

It was a long journey, our butts are flat & our eyes are red. Yet, we are in Wuhan. Here is a little summary of the past 2 days.

We left Spokane & had a lengthy layover in Seattle where we were able to meet up with our friends the Zandt's. They were on their way to Hawaii for a little relaxation. Seattle to Tokyo (11 hr.), Tokyo to Beijing (3 1/2 hr.), stayed the night in Beijing. Got up this morning & caught our flight from Beijing to Wuhan (2 1/2 hr.).

We met our guide Ivan in Wuhan he is a very friendly 28 year old local who is a guide/translator for adoptive families. He is very nice & a very integral part of making this trip easy for us. If it were left up to my husband's expressive body language to get his point across we would still be at the airport.

We just went to the Chinese French owned version of a Wal-Mart called Carrfour. We got the necessities water, water, water & some candy. It was crazy just like our Wal-Marts. Maybe a little more so due to it being a Saturday. Ivan told us that today was a holiday called "woman's holiday". Why don't we have that in the states? So there are lots of flowers being sold & many people out and about. We also noticed quite a bit of security/red flowers at the airport. Come to find out Wuhan is hosting a communist party convention this week. There are some crucial elections (not really cause it's a communist country) going on here. The communist party/government likes to drive black Audis (even though the engine is German made), the body is made in China. No Mercedes or imports allowed for government officials.

China is just as I remember. A crazy amount of people, cars, bikes, motorcycles mixed with lots of smog all working together like a well oiled machine (it would never work in the states).

I know you are all wondering when we get Hudson. It was the first ? out of my mouth when we met Ivan. We get him Monday morning at the Civil Affairs office. So tomorrow we are going to the museum with Ivan & seeing some local sights. Can't wait to meet him!

I'll update more tomorrow.

Please note if you leave comments, I cannot view the blog or the comments, due to the firewall at the hotel. I am not sure how to fix this, we'll work on it. So please keep leaving them, but know for now I cannot respond.

I spoke with my mom today & talked to little Ravenna she is doing great. That makes it so much easier on us. Thanks again mom and dad. Loves & kisses to Ravenna for us!

This is how you feel after shopping in Carrfour, cause it's so cheap.

Right outside our hotel in Beijing (just a little garbage in the street)
